Time Flying By… and our Zoo Tour 2018

This beautiful baby boy turns 16 in less then a month!  I’m not ready.  In my head, he’s still pretty much this size.  Or maybe just a little older and toddling around the house making a mess.

But instead, I took him to the local community college last week to register for duel credit classes.  <insert tears>  I’ve been homeschooling him since 4th grade.  He’s taken classes at our co-ops or online, but I’ve been his primary teacher since that point.  But next year, he’s not taking ANY classes with me.  He’ll be a high school junior and taking all of his classes at our local co-op or through the community college.  And it’s really heavy on my heart how little time we actually have left with him at home!

So in an effort to build some memories for all of us, we are spending this year studying zoology and taking our great zoo tour of 2018!  We have 28 zoos on our list, and I’m sure we’ll add more as we go along.  Visiting, studying, learning… and I’m praying for building great memories and relationship through it all.

We invite you to follow us on that journey through this blog.  Everyone will be posting!  I’ll share what we’re learning and the resources I’m using.  The girls will be sharing information about their favorite animals.  And the boys will be focused on the animals behavior, adaptations, habitats, and how those pieces work together.  Zach specifically will be focused on gathering information related to his final project – the ethics of zoos.
